Donald Seeley
RIVERDALE - Services were held for Donald M. Seeley, 86, of Lake Hiawatha, who died on Sunday, March 2, 2008. He was a former resident of this community.
Born in North Bergen, Mr. Seeley lived in Riverdale before moving to Lake Hiawatha 15 years ago. He was an accountant for Westinghouse Electric, Bloomfield, before retiring. Also, he was a member of the Riverdale and Lake Hiawatha Seniors, the Parsippany Elks, and the St. Anne's Seniors, Parsippany.
Arrangements were by the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Seeley is survived by his daughter, Karan, of Lake Hiawatha; and his brother, Robert, of Lansing, Mich.
He was predeceased by his wife, Helen; and his parents, Howard and Lillian.
Pamela Ferrier
BUTLER - Services were held for Pamela L. Ferrier, 61, of Haledon, who died on Saturday, March 1, 2008. She was a former resident of this borough. Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Ferrier was raised in Butler. She was a waitress at the Pompton Queen Diner, Pompton Plains, for many years.
Arrangements were by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. Interment was at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123-1718.
Mrs. Ferrier is survived by her brother, Scott Bucher; and her sister, Carole Alongi.
She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Gloria Bucher.
Roberta Martin
POMPTON LAKES - Services were held for Roberta V. Vanderhoff Martin, 69, of this community, who died on Sunday, March 2, 2008.
Born in Pompton Lakes, Mrs. Martin lived in this community for most of her life. She was a business education teacher for Lakeland Regional High School, Wanaque.
Arrangements were by the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale. Interment was at the Pompton Reformed Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Columbia University Medical Center, ALS Gift Fund, Development Office, 100 Haven Ave., Suite 29D, New York, N.Y. 10032.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Samuel; her daughters, Shelley Goldi of Park Ridge, and Jill Martin of Pompton Lakes; and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Genevieve Vanderhoff.
Linda Rector
HEWITT - Services were held for Linda Marie Miele Rector, 44, of this community, who died on Thursday, February 28, 2008.
Mrs. Rector lived in Johnstown, Pa., before moving to Hewitt 16 years ago. She was a payroll administrator for Saturn of Route 23, Pompton Plains.
Arrangements were by the Richards Funeral Home, West Milford. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Milford.
Mrs. Rector is survived by her husband, Donald; her daughters, Lauren and Lindsay; her parents, Sylvester and Carol Miele, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; her brothers, Raymond Miele of Greensboro, N.C., Michael Miele of Mt. Airy, Md., and David Miele of Pittsburgh; and her sisters, Diane Turnbull and Mary Ellen Graham, both of Pittsburgh.
William Dempe
BLOOMINGDALE - Services were held for William Michael Dempe, 48, of this community, who died on Tuesday, February 26, 2008.
Mr. Dempe was born in McDonald, Pa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Arrangements were by the Morrison Funeral Home, Butler.
Mr. Dempe is survived by his mother, Peggy; his sister, Kim Bessett; his brother, Randy; and his grandmother, Ethel.
He was predeceased by his father, John; and his brother, Mark.
Lisa Meyer
POMPTON PLAINS - Services were held for Lisa Meyer, 35, of this community, who died on Wednesday, February 26, 2008.
Born in Teaneck, Mrs. Meyer lived in Ringwood before moving to Ringwood. She was a staff accountant with Brain Storm Logistics, Pine Brook.
Services were at the Morrison Funeral Home, Butler. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey Foundation, 120 Albany St., Tower Two, Fifth Floor, New Brunswick, N.J. 08901.
Mrs. Meyer is survived by her husband, Frank; and her grandmother, Cecilia Michaels.
She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Michaels.
John Scott
RINGWOOD - Services were held for John R. Scott, 83, of Oak Ridge, who died on Friday, February 29, 2008. He was a former resident of this community.
Born in Pompton Lakes, Mr. Scott lived in Ringwood before moving to Oak Ridge. He was a test engineer with Phillips-Magnavox, Mahwah, before retiring. Also, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Erskine Lakes Property Owners Association, the Knights of Columbus, St. Catherine's Church, all of Ringwood, and the Ringwood Volunteer Fire Department.
Services were at the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Visiting Nurse Association of North Jersey, 38 Elm St., Morristown, N.J. 07960.
Mr. Scott is survived by his son, Michael; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Claire; and his parents, George and Alice.
Helen Sharp
BUTLER - Services were held for Helen E. Christopher Sharp, 99, of this borough, who died on Friday, February 29, 2008.
Born in Ridgewood, Mrs. Sharp lived in Kinnelon before moving to Butler. She was a homemaker. Also, she was a member of United Methodist Church, Wayne.
Services were at the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale, followed by interment at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to United Methodist Church, 99 Parish Dr., Wayne, N.J. 07470 or to Affirmation Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 47, Somers, N.Y. 10589-0047.
Mrs. Sharp is survived by her son, William, of Butler; her daughter, Betty Dobson, of Peekskill, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin; and her parents, William and Elizabeth Christopher.
Anthony Squatrito
POMPTON LAKES - Services were held for Anthony F. Squatrito, 95, of this community, who died on Saturday, March 1, 2008.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., Mr. Squatrito lived in Wanaque and Oakland before moving to Pompton Lakes five years ago. He was a certified public accountant for American Cyanamid, Wayne, before retiring. Also, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes, as well.
Arrangements were by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. Interment was at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
Mr. Squatrito is survived by his sons, James, Robert, and Anthony; his daughters, Ann Marie Taylor, Cathie Squatrito, Mary Christie, and Dorothy LoRusso; his sister, Tena Squatrito; and 12 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores; his parents, Carmello and Catherine; his brother, Sebastian; and his sister, Mary Trifiro.
Otto Vogt
KINNELON - Services were held for Otto Vogt, 89, of Saddle Brook, who died on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. He was the father of Ronald of this community.
Services were at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Suite 1700, Chicago, Ill. 60611, attn.: Donation Services.
Mr. Vogt also is survived by his daughter, Michele Abolafia; and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Hella Elsasser.
Marion West
WEST MILFORD - Services were held for Marion West, 91, of Passaic, who died on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. She was a former resident of this township.
Mrs. West worked for the City of Passaic for 30 years before retiring. Also, she was a member of the Bethel AME Church, Passaic, where she was president of the Flower Club. She was a board member of the Guidance Guild Nursery, Passaic, a member of the Passaic Branch of the NAACP, and the Republican Party as well.
Services were at the Bethel AME Church, followed by interment at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson. Arrangements were by the Carnie P. Bragg Funeral Home, Passaic.
Mrs. West is survived by her sons, Reginald Simms and Gerald Simms; her daughter, Audrey West Mickle; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Jeffery; three brothers; and her sister.
Anna Deming
PEQUANNOCK - Services were held for Anna "Nan" M. Deming, 81, of this township, who died on Wednesday, February 28, 2008.
Born in North Arlington, Mrs. Deming lived in Clifton before moving to Pequannock in 1956. She worked for Crucible Steel during World War II. Also, she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society of Holy Spirit Church, Pequannock, and a Cub Scout den mother and a Welcome Wagon lady for 10 years.
Services were at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pompton Plains.
Arrangements were by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, 155 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, N.J. 07440.
Mrs. Deming is survived by her sons, Tom of Towaco, Pat of Mine Hill, Mike of Auburn, N.Y., and Robert of Monroe, N.Y.; her daughter, Rosemary Phalon, of Pequannock; her brothers, Walter Wiggins of Port Byron, N.Y., and Edward Wiggins of Hermiston, Ore.; her sister, Mary Nestor, of Brick; 16 grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; her son, Frank; her parents, Walter and Mary Wiggins; her brother, James; and her sister, Veronica Wiggins.
Richard White
POMPTON LAKES - Services were held for Richard F. White, a resident of Suffolk, Va., who died on Thursday, February 29, 2008. He was the brother of David of this community.
Services were at the Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
Mr. White also is survived by his wife, Carol, of Pensacola, Fla.; his daughters, Brandi and Katherine, of Pensacola, and Catherine of Newport News, Va.; his sons, Ian of Pensacola, and Kevin and Christopher, both of Newport News; his mother, Catherine, of Barnegat; his other brothers, James of Little Falls, Kevin of Clifton, and Joseph of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and his sisters, Felice Sedore of Ringwood, Caren of Barnegat, Catherine of West Paterson, and Therese of Totowa.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph.
Christine Brain
POMPTON PLAINS - Services were held for Christine Hartgers Brain, 83, of North Haledon, who died on Friday, February 29, 2008. She was the mother of James of this community.
Services were at the Holland Christian Home, North Haledon, followed by interment at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Arrangements were by the Vander Plaat Vermeulen Memorial Home, Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cornerstone Christian Church, Building Fund, 495 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, N.J. 07508 or to the Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Ave., North Haledon, N.J. 07508.
Mrs. Brain also is survived by her other sons, Robert of Lewisville, Texas, and David of North Haledon; her daughter, Donna Lee Babb, of Savannah, Ga.; her brother, Robert Hargers, of Franklin Lakes; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John.
Marion Kniewel
RINGWOOD - Services were held for Marion C. Kniewel, 93, of this community, who died on Friday, February 29, 2008.
Born in Elizabeth, Mrs. Kniewel lived in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Ringwood 54 years ago. She worked in central supply for Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains, before retiring in 1990. Also, she was a parishioner of St. Catherine's R.C. Church, Ringwood.
Services were at the Scanlan Funeral Home, followed by entombment at Rosedale Cemetery, Orange.
Mrs. Kniewel is survived by her son, Russell, of Ringwood; her daughter, Marion Schmit, of Pennsylvania; her brother, Charles, of Toms River; four grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary Crowell.
Lillian Watson
WEST MILFORD - Services were held for Lillian Vander Wiele Watson, 72, of Wayne, who died on Sunday, March 2, 2008. She was a former resident of this township.
Born in Paterson, Mrs. Watson lived in Hawthorne and West Milford before moving to Wayne in 2006. She was a member of the Hawthorne Gospel Church. Arrangements were by the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, Hawthorne. Interment was at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her sons, William of Westcliff, Colo., Bryan of Vernon, and Robert of West Milford; her brothers, John Vander Wiele of Midland Park, Ken Vander Wiele of Pennsylvania, and George Vander Wiele of Texas; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, William; and her daughter, Brenda.
