STONE AND TILE DESIGNER ANTONELLA ROMANO OFFERS ROCK SOLID EXPERTISE ON COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS
Owner of Wyckoff’s Stone & Tile Emporium Brings Designer’s Eye for Detail to Brick House Restaurant’s New Look

WYCKOFF, N.J., May 28, 2008 – When the owner of the historic Brick House restaurant dreamed of an extraordinary new space on the establishment’s lower level, he turned to Antonella Romano, owner of Stone & Tile Emporium in Wyckoff, to design and execute the restaurant’s dramatic spaces for private and corporate entertaining and dining. The Brick House recently reopened after an extensive expansion and remodeling; Stone & Tile Emporium provided all the stone and tile work throughout the building, including the striking bathrooms and vanity tops, granite tables in the new banquet room, slate tiles and mosaics on the lower level, and the dining tables in the wine cellar.

Ms. Romano has over 24 years experience in the stone and tile industry. She started working as a teenager in her family’s granite and marble company, eventually designing and overseeing projects in the St. Regis Hotel and the homes of many celebrity clients. She opened her own business, Stone & Tile Emporium, three years ago in Wyckoff and plans to expand her space in the near future to accommodate her enormous sample inventory and offer private consultation space for clients.

Having grown up around fine stone and tile, and having studied interior design, Romano has a unique perspective on the industry. “Most companies don’t offer the level of service I do,” she noted. “For example, because of my design background and that of my designers in the store, my customers get full mechanical renderings of their projects. That way, they can they see what their
bath or kitchen will look like when the job is done, the materials are designed to fit their specific space, and the installers know exactly how to execute the designs,” she explained. She does not charge an additional fee for the drawings.

Ms. Romano’s focus on delivering exceptional personal service and artistic expression in stone has garnered her rave reviews from such clients as radio personality and consumer advocate, Joan Hamburg, whose Southampton cottage she updated with a new fireplace, kitchen and bathroom.

At The Brick House, Romano’s artistic vision combines elements of contemporary and traditional décor, a key element throughout the entire restaurant. In the main bathrooms, she used honed limestone and polished marble on the walls and a custom basket weave design in stone on the floors. The dramatic Slate Room downstairs features an elaborate pattern of variegated slate tiles on the floors; the vaulted ceilings and walls are done in brick to match the adjoining wine cellar.

Romano is a frequent contributing writer to several trade and consumer publications, where her articles provide helpful tips on all facets of kitchen, bath and other installations involving stone and tile. Her experience and expertise have guided hundreds of distinctive projects from start to finish. Most recently she was seen on the granite and marble segment of “HouseSmarts” on NBC-TV.

“My clients come to me because I will take their job from concept to design through fabrication and installation, ensuring every detail is perfect. I also offer in-home consultation and meet with installers if necessary. That’s why I tell people we don’t just sell tile, we help design dreams.”
